About the role

McKay are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our Major Projects team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Initially, you will support the delivery of the Moa Point Smudge Farm Project in Wellington. Once the Moa Point project is complete, you may be redeployed to support another Major Projects team. This may be out of region. 

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), primarily Monday to Friday, although some weekend work may be required based on project needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced industrial or commercial electrical professional to step into a leadership role on a significant and rewarding infrastructure project.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of electricians + trade assistants on-site
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with health & safety and quality standards
  • Coordinate with the project manager, Site Supervisor and other stakeholders to meet deadlines
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide effective, practical solutions
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting

What You’ll Bring:

  • NZ Registered Electrician with a current practising licence (mandatory)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical construction (industrial/commercial preferred)
  • Flexibility to work out of the Wellington region as required
  • Proven experience in a leadership role (e.g. Leading Hand or Supervisor)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational abilities
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Commitment to maintaining and promoting health and safety best practices
