McKay are looking for a Performance Analyst & Estimator to play a key role in strengthening our renewable energy delivery capability. Renewables represent a significant and exciting growth area for McKay, and we’re expanding our team to support this next phase.

This is a hybrid position that bridges front-end project estimating with post-project performance analysis, ensuring our tenders are competitive and our execution continues to improve over time.

You will be responsible for developing accurate electrical cost estimates across solar, BESS, and grid‑tie projects, then analysing actual project data to refine future bids and improve productivity. Working closely with the Renewable Energy Sector Lead, this role has real influence on both project success and strategic decision-making.

About the Role  l  Mo Te Mahi:

Cost Estimation & Pre-Construction:

  • Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates.
  • Support tender submissions by developing pricing schedules, scope clarifications, and commercial assumptions.
  • Source, analyse, and normalise supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids.

Operational Performance Analysis:

  • Conduct bid‑to‑actual cost analysis on completed projects, identifying productivity and cost variances.
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards (Excel/Power BI) tracking metrics such as labour productivity, utilisation, and schedule performance.
  • Use historical data to continuously refine estimating models and internal cost benchmarks.

Strategic Support & Continuous Improvement:

  • Provide insight into cost trends, performance data, and risk to support strategic planning and innovation.
  • Assist with improving internal processes across estimating, procurement, and project handover workflows.

About You  l  Mo Koe:

  • 3+ years’ experience in construction estimating, project engineering, or business/performance analysis.
  • Background in electrical construction or renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills (modelling, pivot tables) and experience with estimating software.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualisation tools.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.
