 Accounts Payable Administrator – Whangarei

McKay is New Zealand’s largest privately owned electrical engineering and contracting company, with over 400 employees and multiple branches nationwide. As our business continues to grow, we are expanding our finance team and seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Administrator to join us in Whangarei.

This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) reporting to the Financial Services Manager.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Your work will support the smooth operation of our finance function and contribute to maintaining strong relationships with our vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify invoices for proper documentation and authorization.
  • Set up invoices for electronic payment.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process credit card transactions.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records in line with company policy.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Assist with finance-related projects as required.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting procedures and software (experience with NetSuite or similar cloud-based ERP systems is desirable).
  • A certificate or diploma in accounting or finance (preferred).
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to support team goals.
